Worry?

What is worry?  What does that word actually mean?  What does that word do for us?  As believers, does that word hold any power over us?

Sometimes as a living breathing human, that word may slip into our mind and our body.  However, it is JUST a word. We can allow that word to have power over our emotions, our health and our happiness.  But should we?  Absolutely not. I know you may be thinking, well whomever is posting this must be in a good place right now and/or they may not have really had anything to ever worry about.  Well let me be transparent with you.  My name is Missionary Ludlow, and as I post this, I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  All I want is to have my operation, get my treatments and move on with my life.  Well let me tell you.  The enemy, has tried to throw everything at me but the kitchen sink!  To stop my surgery, to stop me from being treated.  But guess what?  I have an ace in the hole, I have Jesus!  He said He would never leave me nor forsake me, He said by His stripes I am healed.  I believe Jesus has this entire process in his hand.  Was I a victim to worry at a point during this process?  You better believe that I was! However, I surrounded myself with God fearing women (a sisterhood like no other), that know how to pray and that encourage me, pray for me and are there for me.  So lately, when I feel that little worry worm trying to slither its way in my mind, I remember the conversations my sisters and I had and I feel myself being strengthened.  Strengthened enough to remember to pray to the Father, and that prayer just propels me forward.  I get reminded who I am and who’s I am, I get remined that I am strong and I have Jesus on my side.  I get reminded that I can and I will make it through this and nobody, no circumstance, nothing will get in my way because I am not alone.  HA! HA! Devil, get beneath my feet where you belong!

So, I digress, that word…worry.  If we dwell on that word, will it help?  I don’t think so.  So, the next time that worry worm tries to slither in your mind, pray!  If you feel weak, and full of worry, draw your strength from those around you, that love you and pray for you.  When you get just enough strength, pray, worship, and praise our Father, because guess what… at that point, you have already won.

Be blessed.
